Update: May 6th

By the Moon on a Black Knight

Prologue
The party is on the run. To the north is the small town of Kelaware, to the south is the village of West Virginia and a dozen Black Knights hellbent on capturing the party. They've already used mind altering magics to pit allies against each other but Allister has made short work of Cheron of Gaea. The only light is of the pale moon and for some it is of little comfort...

The party needs to think fast before they are overtaken but the knights have other plans. Guido the elven wizard senses the release of powerful energies and before he can warn the party black clad figures are amongst the fleeing heroes. The knights ignore most of the party and focus their assault on Allister and MacDoogle, the bearers of the strange orbs. Allister is upstaged in combat and offers his orb for his life. The knight reverently takes the offered sphere with awe and vanishes. MacDoogle leads his antagonist on a wild chase that leaves the men wearing fullplate exhausted. He hurls taunts and insults as he casually jogs circles around the tired knights. The rest of the party continues their bolt north not really worried about their engaged companions.

More knights teleport into the fray but they go directly for the barbarian. Wisely he deals with the armored men, offering his 'one' orb for their word as knights to never harm him or seek revenge for his insults. The vow on their honor to give him leave as long as they never catch him. With the deal struck he tosses over one of his two orbs and flees toward the party. Some look back forlornly at the treasure delivered up and others look back to be sure they aren't still being attacked. All are stunned by the sudden thunderclap and lightening bolt that strikes between the Black Knights and the orb.

An old man shrouded in pale robes makes short work of the five knights that fall upon him and claims the orb for himself. The still approaching main force of armored men flee with their single prize. Feeling like a reprieve was finally granted, the party approach the old man. He introduces himself as Ragna and claims to have been watching the party for a long time. He is a part of an organization known as The Hands of Fate who directly oppose the destructive machinations of The Eyes of Tomorrow. Chiefly he has been watching the actions of The Black King of Agadeem who has been watching the party intently since they recovered the orbs. He knows not why The Black King or the Eyes want the orbs but he knows that if they want them he'd better step in.

Some find his name familiar and his knowledge of their past intrigues some. Guido knows that the name Ragna was uttered in connection with some of the realm's strongest magic during his days at the academy. All great epics include the name RagDragon the Pale. Feeling like they could trust him, the party spills everything about the strange purple eyed fanatics, the Junon Invasion, and The Crypt of the Lizardman Queen. Intrigued, Ragna offers to take the party to Jericho after he gets a shot of Poon (the wine not the hoochy) and a smoke. The party moved back to West Virginia and while Ragna, Allister and Guido became friendly; Cryler set to recovering Cheron's vision.

A boon from Garl Glittergold is not something asked for lightly. Carapace calls gnomes tricksters for a reason!

  1. Sounds interesting. I make sure I get my new clothes, I have to dress to impress. So how many orbs do we have left and does Cheron remember who wrecked his good eye. Oh what did he ask from Glitterdust?

    Ragna sounds kinda cool.

  2. He has a look that glitters is all i have to say lol!

  3. HA! Ignore those without orbs my ass. I was attacked and never even held one of these orbs and I'm not even close to a threat, being only lvl 2 and neck deep in grass. As for "The rest of the party continues their bolt north not really worried about their engaged companions.", it's not that I wasn't worried about the barbarian, the only one still engaged, it's that he could lead them around easily while we escaped and he caught up to us after. It was more strategy than concern. You forget that not all of us are high lvl. We have to constantly run away from everything, even if it goes against what we want to do and even the character concept, because we can't fight these monsters because not only are we so low lvl but C&C characters are ass. Why do you think I can't wait for you to finish the Holy Swordsman? I would like to make a character that wont die when he steps on a broken piece of wood. Oh, while I'm on the subject, how would someone go about having a class/race made for them without having the rule of not being able to be something you make?

  4. Talk to the GMs or some else abot what you want instead of harboring all of this pent up angst. I'm glad you're finally speaking your mind and telling us how you really feel.

  5. Lol. I say these things to you all the time. Now it's just in print. Also I don't know how to update a past post so I'm just going add it here. I would like to have a race made, you all who know me should know what it would be, that is oriented around melee combat. Take into account that they would come from a race that is just as old, if not older, as the gods themselves and with age come strength and the wisdom to rule all others. I know it probably wont be what I'm thinking of, but since I can't make it myself I have to settle for what someone else makes... =(

  6. My whatever race Legendary creates Holy Swordsman is going to be a BEAST!!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Lol you only going to make it cause I came up with the concept of the class...and I don't think Lem/Shaun would even think about letting me make a race...I can't see you as a Holy character, it doesn't even come close to anything you ever make. I don't think you even know how to role play a Holy character....OOOHHHH! That sounds like a challenge to me! =P
Just know that what I plan to make is a Half-dragon Cleric Holy Swordsman. Yeah, you heard me. Half-dragon Cleric Holy Swordsman!

  8. LOL I don't even think I need to comment on that.

  9. To be honest I am in the process of making a Dragon liege or Dragoon class that will possess dragon lineage. Personally I see no benefit in creating a half dragon race because it would open the door to the creation of a plethera of other races that we do not need. C&C is not about races, classes, feats, skills, or any other terminolgy or rules. All they do is convolude creative thought, C&C is about roleplaying.
For example the cornerstone of C&C the siege engine emphasizes simplicity and facilatates an enviroment were one uses his mind to think outside the box, and not what's on his paper or in the rule book. It is only after a Pc understands this can he create a truly create a unique character; ofcourse everything has been done before but one can add his own flavor text to make a character all his own. A Pc solely using books, or any other unoriginal sources to create an unbalanced and overpowered character will find that his frankenstein does not fit into the world of C&C, and that is his own fault not the DM's. The reason being that again, C&C revels in the simplicity of roleplaying, and not rules which limit the creative flow of the Pcs.

  10. You talk a lot about role playing and not rules, but if someone wants to do something, lets say run along a wall to avoid something and go around to grab a rope, they can't just role play it out, they have to role something and that role comes from the rules. You talk about simplicity, but we've played C&C before and we've been playing for a while now and I still don't know the rules and what I can and can't do. How is that simplicity? The rules are there for a reason and we need to know them so we know our limitations and what the limitations of creatures that aren't our characters. For example a character dieing isn't given a Con save to stay alive, but a monster is because the PC's came up with a way to kill it that the DM didn't think about. This is fair to us and wouldn't have happened if the DM was following the rules. We need rules to keep everyone at the same lvl of play.
Now, as for the race issue, there is a reason for having a different race. That reason is so the players can be what they want and still be able to pick whatever class they want. So, I've been watching TV for the past 20 mins and forgot what I was saying. So....

  11. Sorry to jump in but isn't the Number 1 rule in all RPG systems is that the DM makes the rules.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah they do, but we need to know them and even though they make the rules they should abide by them, not change them whenever they want...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Responding to your comment about simplicity, by the way that you pretty answered yourself and didnt realize it. You have been playing CnC for a good poration of time and you didnt know all the rules but, did that stop you from having fun and/or participating in sessions?
I think not, I for one dont know any other system where that is possible, not in 3.5 for one, where i had to learn about combat casting, 5 footing, full round actions, feats, skills, 2 different types of attribute saves, need I go on? Even Dragon Quest, which is a pretty much freebase system but has alot rules behind it that Pcs must learn if they want to function properly in the world the DM creates if he see fit to use all the rules in the book or do without them.
In C&C similar to how we play DQ we dont use all the rules simply because we do not need to use them to have fun or facilitate sessions. We have been Roleplaying in C&C without them for a long time now and I have yet to see a real to introduce more rules to our system. All I feel that will happen by learning and adding these new rules would do is complicate and lessen the roleplaying that pcs do. Instead the of fearless tank saying i stand my ground, with my sheild at the ready to block incoming blows from anywhere and protect my party from danger, a pc would just say i go full defensive...Moreover the crafty and nimble thief would say, I DODGE this round instead of saying i use my dextrous talents to remain moving while analayze were the blade is coming at me from so i can avoid the blow... Using those terms are not the same being the descriptive and using your mind to tell what you are doing and not some one-two word phrase to conglomerate your action.
I for one am against such 1 word terminologies, it was a madness in dq wen everyone discovered they could evade...Finally Legendary im sure you read most rule books cover to cover in the dq and c&c book im pretty sure around the first couple of pages they both talk about the interactions between the DM and the rules of the book, and they both pretty much state that the book is guide to DM and he/she supercedes the edicts of the book. The DQ book even goes as far as to state that the DM should deal with rulebook lawyers by humilating that PC and/or even kicking them out of their sessions, because any inept person who would rather argue rules with the DM instead of roleplaying doesnt deserve the privilege.

    ReplyDelete
  14. first and foremost forgive me for my spelling and lack on grammer on all these post (me Spanish). 2nd i think greed from now on should only talk via text and post lol he studiers less and we can understand him alot more, he is much smarter then he looks and sounds, 3rdly i have to agree with greed on most of his comments except that last part that was fucked up sounds like your going to kick someone because they play different then the rest of us do. but i do believe that we need to throw out the rules we may know and just think what would I do if i was a pally and this evil knight is attacking me and then just say what comes to your mind wither it be fighting it or running don't think like OK I'm lvl 1 I have to run i cant take a hit. and we all know you do great in combat but what about out of combat things like towns or talking to npc's you can ask anyone what was hennets personalty outside of spring attack and run.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Im not saying i would kick someone out im just saying the books make it perfectly clear in the prologues of their books...to say that the DM makes the rules, he is god, appease him or feel his wrath.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I tried reading the post but was confused by the half sentences. I'll start with responding to what I could read: 1) Yes I have skipped sessions because the DM did something that is not allowed by the PC's and then explained it badly. 2) You say about 3.5 "...2 different types of attribute saves...". What do you mean by this? I don't remember having 2 attribute saves. What are they? (not trying to argue on this, I just don't remember them and it's driving me crazy as to what they are lol) 3) "Instead the of fearless tank saying i stand my ground, with my sheild at the ready to block incoming blows from anywhere and protect my party from danger, a pc would just say i go full defensive". Here I agree with you, full defensive is completely different from guarding other PC's, that's why I would say something like, "I go full defensive and try to block whatever attacks Grizzlegrom." My argument here would be that I say that and instead of getting a bonus to AC, because I went full defensive, my AC would be the same and I would get pummeled. Then if they don't hit my AC then instead the person I was guarding would get hit. This wouldn't make sense since I was blocking the way to that PC. Just because a creature doesn't beat a PC's AC doesn't mean they missed. It could mean that the armor they're wearing blocked or reflected the blow. 4) The whole "DM makes the rules" thing, I thought I explained that. I'm not saying the DM has to follow the rules in the book. They obviously make changes as they see fit. My argument was that if they change anything they should let the PC's know about it so they can think more carefully about what they're going to do. Also they should abide by the rules they are using. If a PC has to roll a Dex check to see if he/she tries to climb up a cliff, then a monster not made for climbing cliffs should have to roll as well. 5) I don't read rule books cover to cover, I actually read less than most people. The reason I know most of the rules is the same reason I know rules in magic. I go by what other people say. You give the example about evading in DQ. I didn't know anything about it until someone, I think Lem, said something about it. After that I looked it up to find out how it worked. If he had not said anything about it I never would've known about it. It's the same with DQ, I've read very little rules in the book because I know the DM's aren't using all of them. What's the point of me wasting my time reading something that's not going to be useful to me? Instead I ask questions, like about charging. I didn't know that it was an actual rule in the book, I was only going by what I remembered in 3.5 and it is very useful in certain situations. I actually looked it up later just because I was curious about it and found that there is charging in C&C and it's different from 3.5. As far as being a rulebook lawyer, I don't argue about rules, I ask questions. It's not my fault you misinterpret what I'm asking or taking it as I'm trying to be an ass. I'm not trying to do that, I'm just curious about what I can do and what I can't. If I ask something like, "Is there charging in this game?" and you say yes, then I ask "How does it work?", it's not because I'm trying to make myself overpowered, it's because I don't know and would like to know so that I can use what I can with what I have. There have been countless times that you were DMing and I tried to do something like charging that you made me roll for, but then I found out at another time that I could've just said, hay I do such-and-such and I wouldn't have had to roll.

  17. I had to split my post cause it only allows 4,900 or so characters.

Now I'm going ask you to explain some stuff because I didn't know what you were trying to say. 1) "…by the way that you pretty answered yourself..." This is not a complete sentence and I don't know what you're trying to say here. 2) "...I have yet to see a real to introduce more rules to our system." Again, this is not a complete sentence and I don't know what you're trying to say here. 3) "...playing CnC for a good poration of time..." What's poration? Did you mean portion?
You really shouldn't try to type above your vocabulary allows you to. And you definitely shouldn't type the way you speak because there's a lot of things you wrote that are only fractions of a sentence but I was able to decipher what you meant for most of them.

    ReplyDelete
  18. As far as Random trying to bash me you do a bad job at it. I don't interact with other PC's very much, this is true, but I interact with NPC's more than you know. You talk about Hennet and what he did outside of combat. Did you forget that he was the only character with a life outside of combat? I had not one but two women I had to take care of and keep happy. What did you have? Trying to get into the assassins guild? I don't even remember if you got in or not.
Now as far as an evil knight attacking us, we we're running away from them. Why would I all of a sudden stop trying to do what we were doing and get killed for no reason? It's not like I didn't try to keep the one on me at bay, I attacked him while defending myself and still yet, moving in the same direction we were before they teleported over to us.
I don't even know why im trying to explain my actions knowing you're not going to care and/or understand what it is I try to do.

  19. I really wanted to read all of this, and yes DS, I am going to behave... but I am getting dizzy from all the crying and excuses.

I am confused by something Legendary... You want the DM to follow the rules, but you want to break the rules to make outrageous characters that aren't even possible? Half dragon? Who is going to let a dragon fuck them? Do you know how big a dragon dick would be? And I can't see a female dragon just chilling while some guy comes and puts a dick in her. You'd be dinner. I mean, unless we are playing Shrek and you want to be half-dragon half-donkey, I don't see the point.

I have to stop because I promised DS I would behave... but oh the thoughts I have at this moment.... OH WHAT I WANT TO SAY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. You should say them. Do you know about dragons? They are magic based creatures and are considered the first race to create/use magic spells. There are many spells/abilities dragons have that allow them to take the form of whatever they want. So no, a huge dragon would not have sex with a person, instead the dragon would make itself look like a normal person and then have sex and have a half dragon baby.
Next, "...You want the DM to follow the rules, but you want to break the rules to make outrageous characters that aren't even possible?...". What are you talking about? I've never tried to break the rules. I use the rules to break a game. If you're going to try to make me look bad then you need to get the facts correct. You haven't been playing with us long enough to think you know what you're talking about.
On another topic; I liked the way the site looked before. With the black background and the white lettering it hurts my eyes. Even when I'm done reading and look away at the T.V. or something, I can still see the wording floating around. Is there anyway you could try other color schemes?

  21. Damn Legendary you having a bad or something? It obvious that your way of thinking is completely different from the majority of the groups. This damn near like arguing religion, nobody is going to win. I just don't want this blog to turn into something negative, it's suppose to be fun. So everyone lets not get nasty.

    -I'm still EVIL!

    ReplyDelete
  22. C'mon dude, dont give me that im pretty sure you knew exactly what i was saying if random understood it. This isn't english class, and you really need to stop knit picking at my comments, seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm not trying to be an ass. I just couldn't understand what you were trying to say. I still don't know what the ones I put up were supposed to say. Can you explain them?

As far as Khorie goes, my way of thinking is different from other peoples. That's why I have such a problem with things that don't make sense to me. I have to have them explained to me, not have someone I've never met call me a cheater. Why do you think I always ask why during a game? It's not because I want to do something and you’re not letting me, it's because I don't understand why I can't do that thing. There are very few things that people can call me that really piss me off, and being called a cheat/cheater, or god forbid a liar, especially from someone I've never even met is definitely one of those things. You guys know how we call each other names all the time, and I'm very careful not to say something that might get someone upset, and if I do I stop as soon as I notice or find out about it and I expect to be treated the same way and to have someone who doesn't know me say something like that gets me really pissed off.

If someone wants to argue dragons with me, I'm all for it. You should definitely say what you want to say, just be careful on how you say them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. its obvious she was joking dude...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Im going to be honest with you Legendary and I'm not trying to talk shit. Since the start of this blog you have just be complaining and making it seem like you are the victim of unfairness. I can understand why you feel that way because their have been occasions where the DM did treat you differently, but you go into the game with one goal and that is to break it by making the most outrageous and powerful character(you have admitted to this many times). Yes I do agree that you stay within rule but as a DM it is upsetting to know that a PC is trying to destroy what you work so hard on. A DM can take it as you not having respect for his/her game, so they treat you as such.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lol you think I'm complaining? This is stuff I talk to Lem about all the time; you're just not there when I do it because I say these things to DM's only. I write these posts in the same manner as I speak, so you need to read them in the same way. When you read my posts imagine the way I speak and how I'm mostly joking all the time. Then you will see things differently. As for trying to break a game, I think I've even admitted it in one of my posts on the site. If I make the DM feel like I don't respect them because I'm trying to break the game, they should tell me such. I don't do it because I'm spiteful to the DM. I do it because it's fun for me to find ways to break the rules within the limits of the rules, kind of like a lawyer does in the courtroom. Again, if someone has a problem with the way I do something they should talk to me about it. And when I say talk to me, I mean talk to me not talk at me. There is a difference and when you talk at someone they are less likely to be responsive to what you're saying and be more defensive towards you.

As far as to "its obvious she was joking dude...” it may be obvious to you because you know her. I've never met her, how would I know she's joking? Besides, you shouldn't speak badly about those you don't know as a whole in life.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I didn't notice that I didn't copy a section of what I wrote for the post, so here it is:

Why do you think the post Lem put up "...I'm glad you're finally speaking your mind and telling us how you really feel. " made me laugh like a mad man? I tell him this stuff all the time and he's trying to be funny and make believe like this is the first time he has heard these things I say.

  28. I think I will take DS's advice and wait until we meet, Legendary. Cause he knows me, and I think his advice is sound.

However... I am a strongass bitch with a lot of opinions... So come with thick skin.

Until then... Katrina is out of this discussion!

p.s. I think Lyrah would fuck a dragon... so I take back my previous statements! LOL!!!!!

  30. GREED, WOW you are so full of wisdom on these forums. Yes, we can ALL understand you!

"For example the cornerstone of C&C the siege engine emphasizes simplicity and facilatates an enviroment were one uses his mind to think outside the box"

In basic terms: their is no rules. Let your imagination take you to places that inspire everyone around you.

How great is it to do something so ridiculous and the DM says OK roll a dex and two str checks.

A mage can wear armor and the DM will say every time you want to cast a spell roll a seige engine check....If you make it WOW the imposable was accomplished!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. im going to put my last thought on the matter i believe we all need to throw out all rules we may know about this game and just say whatever it is you want to do and if the dm tells you to roll a 100 die rolls then role it and keep it moving if you explain what your doing and explain how you see the situation, chances are good its going to come out the way you want

    ReplyDelete
  32. Exactly!!!!!!!!

That is exactly how the C&C Seige engine works.

  33. If this is the response we can expect from updating the campaign then I can't wait to post about tomorrow's session! I like how we have finally gotten Jose out of his shell, and Shawn has finally learned to speak English clearly.

Game Masters need to be more fair, Player Characters need to stop bullshitting and be honest with themselves about their intentions and how their actions will be interpreted by others.

I can't speak for anyone else but I feel like if players are only going to give 25% then I will only provide them with the same. We all choose an archetype and it is our job to portray that role. Uniqueness comes from our own spin on the quintessential trained warrior or charismatic scoundrel. We should all remember this before we judge.

Legendary, you always want to be something outside of the realm of the game. I get the lure of it but it takes away from the game if everyone is a medieval adventurer and one guy is the spawn of the most powerful creature in the universe. Fairness and balance go out the window and the spawn is the only guy having fun. Food for thought.

  34. Thunderbox= Awesome

    Cleric/Holy Swordsman, Why?

Half-Dragon in C&C, a game designed to be simple with simple spells, monster, classes and The Coveted Siege Engine; Why? Where would it fit? If it would get you to participate fully in the game... I dare say, I might let you roll this up. lol, imagine how crazy the game is about to become.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think it would be more beneficial to roleplay obtaining the traits of a dragon than to be a half dragon. It would be much more interesting to have a dragon owe you a debt and repay you by bestowing you with dragon like abilities and protections.

    I'm just saying........

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why Cleric Holy Swordsman? Well, as the name implies, a Holy Swordsman is a sword fighter type that uses holy or light energy to empower himself and destroy all the evil/dark creatures or energies. This would fit perfectly with the Cleric because they are the embodiment of light. They destroy undead, gain power from their deity, and help keep the innocents protected. I like the idea of having to do something to gain the abilities of a dragon. I've had a character become a dragon born, a race in D&D I found, and he started as a dwarf and when he became a dragon born he lost most of his racial abilities and gained those of a "weaker" half-dragon. So I wouldn't have a problem having to do that again, but then the opportunity would have to be given that I can at least try to obtain this and a lot of times that opportunity comes when a player isn't there for that day or it happens when the character is somewhere else and the player isn't allowed to get what he/she has been trying to achieve.

  38. I say we rent a boat and take it out three days from land and drop an orb in the middle of the ocean. Before we do that someone needs to cast a recall spell on the orb. This way one command word will bring it back into your hands.... Rinse and repeat until all the orbs are sunk.

This will distract the knights long enough for us to deal with the Junon.
